Zipwake Interceptor Round from the Series E is designed for boats with a rounded hull shape toward the stern, where neither a straight nor an angled interceptor can effectively follow the hull lines. Series E is intended for planing or semi-planing boats between 15 and 30 meters, and the Round model makes it possible to utilize more complex hull surfaces to generate stable lift and optimal trim control. The shape is engineered to follow the rounded section of the transom and provide an even response across the entire mounting surface.
What is an interceptor?
An interceptor works as a modern alternative to traditional trim tabs. Instead of a large plate that folds down into the water, an interceptor uses a narrow blade that quickly extends just a few millimeters. This small movement creates immediate lift at the stern, allowing the boat to respond much faster compared to conventional trim tabs. The result is improved stability, faster trim adjustments, and reduced water resistance.
The interceptor features an integrated electric servo motor (SU-E) that precisely controls the interceptor blade. It requires no calibration and is easy to replace if necessary. The motor provides a 60 mm stroke length, a speed of 40 mm/s, and full trim adjustment in just 1.5 seconds. It delivers sufficient power to operate the blades at speeds of up to 60 knots. The brushless servo motor supports 12–32 V DC.
The interceptor comes with a three-meter cable and a self-sealing through-hull fitting, extendable up to six meters. It can be installed discreetly behind the interceptor or above the waterline, depending on installation preference. A protective cable cover is also included to ensure a clean and secure installation.
Interceptors in the Series E operate with high precision and provide even lift across the entire stern. The Round model is often combined with Straight-, Chine-, or Tunnel-shaped interceptors to cover the full shape of the transom and create an installation that follows the hull lines seamlessly. Unlike the other interceptors in the Series E range, the Round model is available in only one size.
