Zipwake Interceptor Chine from the Series E is designed for larger boats with outward-angled transoms or hulls featuring a distinct chine. Series E is developed for planing or semi-planing boats between 15 and 30 meters, and the Chine model is angled to follow the hull geometry where a straight interceptor is not sufficient. The model is available in both starboard and port versions, allowing the installation to be precisely matched to the hull shape on each side. This makes it a natural choice for boats with more advanced hull lines where maximum stability, lift, and trim control precision are required.
What is an interceptor?
An interceptor works as a modern alternative to traditional trim tabs. Instead of a large plate that folds down into the water, an interceptor uses a narrow blade that quickly extends just a few millimeters. This small movement creates immediate lift at the stern, allowing the boat to respond much faster compared to conventional trim tabs. The result is improved stability, faster trim adjustments, and reduced water resistance.
The interceptor features an integrated electric servo motor (SU-E) that precisely controls the interceptor blade. It requires no calibration and is easy to replace if necessary. The motor provides a 60 mm stroke length, a speed of 40 mm/s, and full trim adjustment in just 1.5 seconds. It delivers sufficient power to operate the blades at speeds of up to 60 knots. The brushless servo motor supports 12–32 V DC.
The interceptor comes with a three-meter cable and a self-sealing through-hull fitting, extendable up to six meters. It can be installed discreetly behind the interceptor or above the waterline, depending on installation preference. A protective cable cover is also included to ensure a clean and secure installation.
Like the other interceptors in the Series E, the Chine model operates with high precision and provides stable, even lift across the stern. It is designed to follow angled hull surfaces and is often used together with Straight-, Tunnel-, or Round-shaped interceptors to create a fully integrated installation that follows the hull shape seamlessly. The Chine E model is available in two lengths: 400 and 600 millimeters.
