The SmallBMS NG is a complete and user-friendly battery management system (BMS) specifically developed for Victron's Lithium NG batteries (not compatible with Lithium Smart). It protects and monitors the batteries by controlling charging and load, and provides warnings at low battery voltage. The product is a simpler and more cost-effective alternative to VE.Bus BMS NG for applications where integration with Victron inverters/chargers is not needed. It lacks VE.Bus communication and is therefore not suitable for use with, for example, MultiPlus or Quattro.
With built-in Bluetooth, SmallBMS NG connects directly to all Lithium NG batteries in the system and provides central monitoring via the VictronConnect app. It receives current and charging data directly from the batteries, so you do not need to use a separate SmartShunt. The batteries can be connected in series, parallel, or a combination of both to support 12V, 24V, and 48V systems. Up to 50 batteries can be used in 12V or 24V systems and 25 batteries in 48V systems, enabling up to 192 kWh (12V), 384 kWh (24V), and 128 kWh (48V) storage. Multiple Lynx Smart BMS units can be connected in parallel to increase capacity and ensure redundancy.
SmallBMS NG has outputs for load disconnect and charge disconnect, allowing it to control external devices such as BatteryProtect, chargers, and other remotely controlled devices to prevent deep discharge or overcharging. A warning output provides early indication of low battery voltage and can be connected to, for example, a relay, LED, or buzzer. With remote control, both load and charge outputs can be controlled externally. The product also has clear LED indicators where a blue LED shows Bluetooth status and a red LED shows warnings and errors.
