GX GSM 850/1900 is a modem and GPS accessory included in Victron's GX range of monitoring products. This cellular modem provides a stable internet connection to connect your system to the Victron Remote Management (VRM) portal and operates on both 2G and 3G networks. This model is specially adapted for use in the USA, Canada, Mexico, and most countries in South America, and uses the SIMCom SIM5360A module to support frequency bands 850/900/1800/1900 MHz for 2G and 850/1900 MHz for 3G.
A prominent feature of the GX GSM 850/1900 is the built-in GPS receiver, enabling tracking and geofence functionality when the optional GPS antenna is installed. This makes it easy to monitor and keep track of vehicles or boats in motion directly via the VRM portal. To activate GPS tracking, the GPS antenna with article number GSM900200100 is required.
It is important to note that many telecom operators are phasing out their 3G networks, which means that GX GSM may not be an optimal long-term solution in some regions. In such cases, the future-proof replacement product GX LTE 4G is recommended, which supports more modern networks and offers better future security.
Installation of the GX GSM 850/1900 requires a mini-SIM card and connects via the included USB cable. It is compatible with all GX devices running Venus OS version 2.22 or later.
For installations where multiple devices, such as tablets or smartphones, require internet access, a mobile router may be a better solution. GX GSM only provides internet to the GX device and does not share the connection with other devices.
The package includes GX GSM with integrated USB cable, a GSM mini whip antenna for indoor use, as well as a DC power cable with built-in fuse holder and terminal block.
