AP44 VRF Medium Capacity Pack is a complete autopilot package designed for hydraulically steered outboard motors and boats with INU drives (inner/outer) up to 10 meters (35 feet). With this package, you can easily add a Simrad autopilot system to your boat and enjoy smooth and precise steering. The AP44 control unit with its 4.1-inch color screen and intuitive knob control makes it easy to set the course and access advanced autopilot features, such as automatic turn patterns, NoDrift steering, and depth contour tracking.
The package contains everything you need to build a Simrad autopilot system. The reversible RPU-80 hydraulic pump handles a cylinder volume of 80–250 cm³ and is powered by the NAC-2 autopilot computer. Also included in the package is the Simrad Precision-9 solid state compass, which enables automatic calibration and provides accurate heading data underway. All necessary cables and connectors are included to easily build an NMEA 2000® backbone network or connect the system to your existing network.
Installation and configuration are easy thanks to Virtual Rudder Feedback technology (VRF), which eliminates the need for a physical rudder position sensor on many boats, simplifying installation. The AP44 system also has automatic fine-tuning that optimizes the autopilot's performance. The built-in activation process guides you through both harbor configuration and open water tests, and with the Precision-9 compass, continuous course adjustment occurs automatically for maximum accuracy.
With the AP44 autopilot control unit, you can let go of the wheel and enjoy hands-free steering. It provides easy access to features such as automatic turn patterns for fuel-efficient maneuvering, NoDrift steering that maintains course against wind and currents, and depth contour tracking to maintain a constant water depth, ideal for fishing along edges and slopes. By connecting the system to your chartplotter, you can add navigation with waypoints and routes, providing complete autopilot control from compatible Simrad displays.
