Victron Energy has identified that the original Orion XS 12/12-50A DC-DC charger could cause severe interference on maritime VHF channel 16 (156.800 MHz), affecting both fixed and portable VHF stations. To address this, Victron has developed a new hardware version of the Orion XS, where the VHF interference issue has been eliminated. This updated version retains all the advanced features of the previous model but without affecting important maritime communication frequencies, making it an even more reliable choice for boat owners and professionals in marine applications.
The Orion XS 12/12-50A (700W) DC-DC charger is a high-performance solution for charging in dual battery systems powered by a smart generator. It is designed to ensure optimal performance while protecting your system, making it a reliable and efficient charger for both vehicles and boats with modern generators used in Euro 5 and Euro 6 engines.
The charger offers flexible adjustment where both input and output current can be tailored to the system's needs. This protects the generator from overload and ensures the service battery is charged efficiently. If higher power is required, multiple Orion XS units can be connected in parallel to increase output power, with no limit on the number.
The unit is equipped with ENGINE SHUTDOWN DETECTION, meaning it only activates when the engine is running. This optimizes energy use and ensures correct charging from smart generators, while preventing system overload.
Orion XS has an advanced charging algorithm with eight preset battery modes, guaranteeing optimal charging whether lead or lithium batteries are used. For lead batteries, the charger automatically adjusts the absorption time depending on the depth of discharge, reducing the risk of overcharging and extending battery life.
To ensure safe and durable operation, Orion XS is equipped with comprehensive protection features against overload, short circuit, and overheating. If the unit reaches its maximum temperature, the output power is automatically adjusted.
