Victron Energy has identified that this original Orion XS 12/12-50A DC-DC charger could cause severe interference on maritime VHF channel 16 (156.800 MHz), affecting both fixed and portable VHF stations. To address this, Victron has developed a new hardware version of the Orion XS.

With the Orion XS 12/12-50A VHF, the problem with VHF interference has been eliminated. The updated version retains all advanced features from the previous model but without affecting important maritime communication frequencies.
The Orion XS 12/12-50A (700W) DC-DC charger is designed to provide high-performance charging in dual battery systems, charged via a smart generator. This unit ensures optimal performance while protecting your system, making it a reliable solution for vehicles and boats with modern generators found in Euro 5 and Euro 6 engines.
With Orion XS, you can easily adjust both input and output current to suit your system's needs, protecting the generator from overload and ensuring the service battery is charged correctly. For systems requiring more power, an unlimited number of Orion XS units can be connected in parallel to increase output power.
Orion XS is equipped with ENGINE SHUTDOWN DETECTION, meaning the charger only draws power when the engine is running. This guarantees correct charging from smart generators, preventing overload and optimizing energy use in your system.
The charger has a customizable charging algorithm with eight preset battery modes, providing optimal charging whether you use lead batteries or lithium batteries. For lead batteries, the algorithm adjusts the absorption time based on the depth of discharge, preventing overcharging and extending battery life.
Orion XS offers comprehensive protection against overload, short circuit, and overheating. It automatically adjusts output power if the unit reaches maximum temperature and also has protection against low temperature and undervoltage, preventing damage to lithium batteries and deep discharge of the starter battery.
With an IP65 rating, Orion XS is dust and waterproof, making it ideal for demanding environments. This protects the unit from external damage and ensures long-lasting performance in tough conditions.
