MultiPlus Compact 12/1600/70-16 is a combined inverter and battery charger from Victron Energy. It delivers 1600 VA (1300 W continuous) pure sine wave from 12V DC and is intended for installations where both AC power and battery charging are required. The battery charger has a capacity of 70 A and uses an adaptive three-stage charging (bulk, absorption, float) to optimize charging of various battery types, including lead-acid, AGM, gel, and lithium.
The unit is equipped with Victron's PowerAssist technology which prevents overload of a limited AC source. This is done by automatically reducing the battery charging when needed, and at high loads, current can be drawn from the batteries to temporarily support the AC output.
It also has a UPS function (Uninterruptible Power Supply), which means the inverter automatically takes over the power supply within 20 milliseconds if incoming power from the grid, shore power, or generator disappears. The fast switching ensures that even sensitive electronics continue to operate without interruption.
MultiPlus Compact 12/1600/70-16 supports parallel connection (up to 6 units) as well as three-phase or split-phase installation. It can be connected to a GX device, such as Victron Cerbo GX, enabling local and remote monitoring via Victron's free VRM portal. Through the VRM portal, the user can follow the system status in real time, change settings, and analyze history from any device with internet access.
Efficiency is up to 93% and standby consumption is low. Dimensions: 375 x 214 x 110 mm. Weight: approximately 10 kg. The unit has built-in protections against short circuit, overload, overtemperature, incorrect battery polarity, and too high or low battery voltage.
