The Orion-Tr Smart 12/24-10A (240W) Isolated is a DC-DC charger that receives 12V from the input and delivers 24V with an output power of 240W, with a maximum current of 30A. It functions both as a battery charger and as a constant current source, making it ideal for vehicles with smart generators (Euro 5 and Euro 6) as well as for boats and motorhomes. It has a wide input and output voltage range and is designed to handle low charging voltages from smart generators, which is especially important to ensure that the service battery is charged correctly and that the starter battery is protected from unwanted discharge.
An isolated charger has galvanic isolation between the input and output. This means that there is no direct electrical connection between the input and output; they are completely separated. It is often used in situations where higher safety and protection are needed, such as in marine applications, industrial systems, or in vehicles where multiple grounding systems may be involved.
With built-in Bluetooth, the charger can easily be monitored and programmed via your smartphone or tablet using the VictronConnect app. You can also use the app to get immediate readings of important data and alarms without having to connect directly to the device.
The charger offers an adaptive three-stage charging algorithm – bulk, absorption, and float – for optimal battery management. For lead-acid and lithium batteries, the charger automatically adjusts the charging time to prevent overcharging and ensure the battery is fully charged after deep discharge. If desired, a fixed output voltage can be set.
The Orion-Tr Smart is also protected against short circuits and overheating, and its output current is automatically reduced at high temperatures to ensure safe operation. IP43 protection makes the unit durable and reliable in demanding environments, especially when installed with the screw terminals facing downward.
The unit can be connected in parallel with an unlimited number of units to increase the output current, making it flexible enough for larger systems. Additionally, it has a remote on/off function, allowing it to be easily controlled remotely or via a switch connected to the starter battery or vehicle chassis.
