Galvanic Isolator VDI-64 A is the perfect solution to protect larger boats against electrolytic corrosion, which can be caused by unwanted low DC currents via the shore power cable. These currents can lead to harmful corrosion on the boat's underwater metals such as hull, propeller, and shafts.
This powerful isolator uses two diodes in an antiparallel configuration, which only conduct current at a voltage above about 1.4 Vdc. This means that smaller voltage differences between metals do not cause galvanic currents, effectively protecting the boat's underwater metals from corrosion.
The VDI-64 A is easily installed directly behind the boat's 230V outlet and handles currents up to 64A, making it ideal for larger boats with higher current demands. It prevents galvanic currents under normal conditions, but at a higher fault voltage in the AC circuit, the diodes will conduct current to allow the ground fault circuit breaker to activate and cut the power for safety.
