Orion-Tr Smart 24/12-30A (360W), non-isolated DC-DC charger is an advanced and efficient charger, designed to ensure optimal power supply in 24V systems. It is ideal for charging a secondary battery from a generator or other power source in vehicles or boats. With a maximum charging current of 30A and an output power of 360W, the charger offers high performance and reduces energy losses, making it an energy-efficient choice.
It functions both as a battery charger and as a constant current source, making it ideal for vehicles with smart generators (Euro 5 and Euro 6) as well as for boats and motorhomes. It has a wide input and output voltage range and is designed to handle low charging voltages from smart generators, which is especially important to ensure that the service battery is charged correctly and that the starter battery is protected from unwanted discharge.
A non-isolated has a direct electrical connection between input and output. This means that the input and output share the same grounding point. The non-isolated design is more compact and efficient because there are fewer components, making it suitable in applications where galvanic isolation is not an issue. This charger is mainly used to charge a secondary battery (e.g., a consumption battery) from a primary battery system or a generator in vehicles, boats, or motorhomes.
The charger offers an adaptive three-stage charging algorithm – bulk, absorption, and float – for optimal battery management. For lead-acid and lithium batteries, the charger automatically adjusts the charging time to prevent overcharging and ensure the battery is fully charged after deep discharge. If desired, a fixed output voltage can be set.
Orion-Tr Smart is also protected against short circuits and overheating, and its output current is automatically reduced at high temperatures to ensure safe operation. IP43 protection makes the unit durable and reliable in demanding environments, especially when installed with the screw terminals facing downwards.
The unit can be connected in parallel with an unlimited number of units to increase output current, making it flexible enough for larger systems. Additionally, it has a remote on/off function, allowing it to be easily controlled remotely or via a switch connected to the starter battery or vehicle chassis.
