Blue Sea Systems Circuit Breaker 187 Surface Mount 100A is a combined switch and circuit breaker that offers both overload protection and reliable power management in a single unit. It is ideal for applications where both safety and performance are crucial, especially in marine and vehicle environments. With a capacity of 100A and a maximum voltage of 48V DC, it is perfect for protecting electrical systems from overload and short circuit.
This circuit breaker has a simple and clear lever operation and is designed to be "Trip Free," meaning it cannot be held in the "on" position if a fault current occurs. This ensures that the system is always protected from dangerous situations. Additionally, the breaker is waterproof, making it suitable for installation in harsh environments, such as marine applications where moisture and water can be an issue.
The countersunk mounting hole provides a clean and discreet appearance when mounted, and the large terminals with 5/16" M8 terminal bolts provide plenty of space to connect heavy cable lugs. The terminals allow a high tightening torque of 75 in-lb (8.47 Nm), providing a secure and reliable connection. The breaker housing material is made of thermoset polyester, making it robust and durable.
The circuit breaker also meets safety requirements for gasoline engines as it is ignition protected according to the SAE J1171 standard. This makes it safe for installation in gasoline-powered boats or other similar applications. It is also equipped with a large lever that clearly shows if the breaker has tripped, making it easy to monitor the circuit status.
It has an impressive fault current capacity and can interrupt currents up to 5000A at 14V DC, 3000A at 28V DC, and 1500A at 48V DC. It is also designed to withstand extreme temperatures, with an operating range between -40°C and 85°C, making it reliable in both cold and hot conditions.
