By connecting your chartplotter, you can activate waypoint navigation and get full autopilot control from your Simrad screens.
The AP44 has a 4.1-inch optically bonded color screen, providing a crystal-clear image in all conditions and preventing condensation and fogging. The transflective LCD technology reflects sunlight to make the screen brighter during the day without increasing power consumption, ensuring superior visibility even in bright sunlight. With a simple keypad and knob, you get quick access to all functions and a clear overview of the autopilot status, making it easy to operate your autopilot regardless of weather conditions.
With the AP44, you get easy access to advanced features such as automatic turn patterns that assist with fishing, diving, or making efficient U-turns. You can quickly select a maneuver and then decide whether to turn port or starboard. If you want more control, you can customize turn patterns for more advanced maneuvers like spirals, zigzag turns, and other patterns that facilitate your journey. The NoDrift steering function counteracts the effects of wind and tides to keep the boat on a straight course, and with depth contour tracking, you can easily maintain a constant water depth under the boat, which is perfect for fishing along edges and shelves.
Installation and configuration of the AP44 is simple, with an automatic setup process that fine-tunes the autopilot's performance and guides you through both harbor configuration and open water tests. By adding a Simrad Precision-9 compass, you also get automatic calibration, which further improves accuracy and simplifies installation.
