Filax 2 is an ultra-fast transfer switch designed to switch sensitive loads, such as computers, industrial control systems, and modern entertainment equipment, between two AC sources. The prioritized sources are usually the power grid, a generator, or shore power, while the alternative source is often an inverter. With a switching time of less than 20 milliseconds, it ensures that sensitive devices continue to operate without interruption. Filax 2 is not intended to supply power to high-power household appliances, such as washing machines or electric motors, but is specifically designed to handle critical loads that require fast and reliable switching between power sources, for example a computer or broadband.
Filax 2 has several important features, including a switching time of less than 20 milliseconds, which means that sensitive loads continue to operate without disturbances. It has a maximum load current of 16 A and switches automatically if the voltage or frequency of the priority source falls below or rises above the preset limits. When the priority source returns to normal values for at least 30 seconds, automatic switching back to the priority source occurs. The alternative source has a maximum continuous input voltage of 260 V, allowing Filax 2 to safely handle several different power sources.
Filax 2 operates in temperature ranges between -20 °C and +50 °C and is IP65 rated, providing a high level of protection against dust and water. It is available in two models: 230 V/50 Hz – 240 V/60 Hz and 110 V/50 Hz – 120 V/60 Hz.
Filax 2 has a compact design with dimensions 120 x 255 x 75 mm and a weight of 0.8 kg. The unit is made of robust ABS plastic in the color RAL7035. It meets the safety standards EN 60335-1 and EN 60335-2-29, as well as the EMC standards EN 55014-1, EN 61000-6-3, and EN 61000-6-1.
